I have always loved space and astronomy and most sciences for that matter. If I had it to do over again I would get a doctorate in Astronomy. Oh well, amatuers can have a lot of fun in astronomy too.
I belong to the Salt Lake Astronomical Society which gets together to have private and public star parties and which runs a small observatory at Stansbury Park out by Tooele. I don't have much to put on this page, except to provide some links to sites that I have found useful and to show off the one astrophotograph that I have ever taken. I have an Orion XT10 telescop which is a 10" newtonian reflector style telescope on a dobsonian mount. It takes some skill to operate since it doesn't have any electronics but I think that is half of the fun of going out to observe stuff. I don't stay quite as on top of things since I stopped lecturing at the planetarium but my monthly Sky & Telescope magazine subscription keeps me pretty well informed on what is going on in the field.
Below is a photograph of the moon that I took with my telescope and a point and shoot camera. I thought it turned out pretty good considering the set up.
