As I mentioned previously I have quite a few musical interests. There are many instruments I would love to play but currently I play the guitar, ukelele and piano all poorly. I played the trombone for years but sold it to buy an Alesis QS8.1 synthesizer years ago. I like to sing, write music and record but don't get around to it very often.
One of the first projects finished in my house was a small recording studio in the basement. Click here for a photo. I haven't done much in there over the last few years, but I finally have the time to start working on some projects. I have a few friends who like to come over to record and my mom likes to come over and record as well. Right now it is free so I invite anyone who would like to record to come on over and we can give it a try. It is difficult to find a quiet time at my house, but I will try. First come first serve.
Below are some recordings of a few of the songs I have written as well as some covers that I did with my sister Kitchell who is the real talent in the family. These were recorded in my old apartment actually. I just realized thatI haven't done any personal recording since I built this studio. That is embarrasing.
I Remember - A little bit country feeling love song (It's my favorite of the songs I have written.)
My Love - Another love song by yours truly
I Will Strive - I wrote this for my mission and sang it at my farewell. It has gotten faster over the years but I kind of like it fast now.
Second Hand Rose (Cover)- Kitchell singing. I think we did a great job of recreating an old record sound.
The First Noel (Cover)- Kitchell's rendition, it's really cool.
Blue Christmas (Cover)- My best Elvis impersonation. I do a mean Hearbreak Hotel too.
Bring Him Home (Cover)- Keeley singing. I love this song.
Come Thou Fount (Cover)- Keeley singing. Actually there are about 6 Keeley's singing this one.
Hark the Harold Angels Sing (Cover)- Keeley singing with a vocalizer (a la Kurt Bestor).
MLK (Cover)- (My favorite) The Diminished 8ths. A group I sang with in college. I sing second tenor in this one.
Redeemer of Israel (Cover)- The Diminished 8ths. This is my favorite hymn. I sing bass in this one. At the end of the song is the chicken song. I am the lead chicken hehe.
Silent Night (Cover)- (a la Boyz 2 Men) 4 Keeley's singing with no digital help (besides reverb). I am very proud of this one.
These are lossy mp3s. I had to downsample these to avoid going over my web site size limit.
Guitar
I am currently trying to improve my guitar playing and came across an amazing site for lessons. Most of the lessons are free and they are all very well done. I would recommend it to anyone who would like to learn to play the guitar or just improve their guitar playing. The website is www.justinguitar.com .
